Once the Nein parted ways, Beau, Yasha and Caleb went to Rexxentrum; Jester, Fjord took to the high seas, with Veth finally being able to settle down with her husband Yeza.
Essek however went back to Eiselcross to.. wrap things up. He knew that he would not be able to stay long, there would be inquests and those inquests would bring about a downfall that he did not want, not quite yet. You see, Essek Thelyss had things to live for now. He would not die in Penance for his betrayal to the Dynasty, not when he had a wizard to keep a promise to.
He had things to attend to and thus that was probably why Caleb and the rest of the Nein heard very little from him; take care of himself and establish a network of safety that would protect himself and the Nein was the first order of business; take care of things just as Caleb was with his own matters and then they could allow themselves a chance to rest, well earned and deserved.
